About the Creator
Margaret is an interdisciplinary artist who creates across many mediums: from illustration to comics, from vibe coding to poetry, from improvising in the kitchen to improvising at the piano. Before finding her way to MIT, Margaret was born and raised in Qingdao, China and spent many of her formative years in Mobile, AL. Though she currently resides in Cambridge, MA, she proudly calls all three places home.
As an MIT community member, she is best known as the creator of Wide Tim (@wide_tim), a jolly beaver who double majored in eating and sleeping and made it his mission to spread positivity and champion arts and student culture at MIT.
Beyond Wide Tim, she has been involved in MIT's arts communities ever since her very first semester. She was a muralist, an animator, co-president of Borderline Murals, a designer of her own MIT Class Ring, and an MIT Arts Scholar.
Today, Margaret works full-time in Boston in a role outside the art world, but her vision as an artist has only kept growing wider. Since graduating from MIT, she has expanded her Wide Tim ventures by collaborating with the MIT COOP, MIT Openspace, and the MIT Alumni Association, among others, while continuing to collaborate with MIT student organizations.
